He doesn't seem to move out of this spot but hides during the day in the rock. Never seen him leave this area but worried he may have eaten my Berghia Nudibranches as I haven't seen any for a day or two. 99% sure it is a gorilla crab, really don't want to kill him though :'(

Yep, you can identify them with the black tip on their claws. Definitely a gorilla crab… sitting under a couple nice sized aiptasia

Ahh okay thought so, afraid I've got a red sea max nano so not sure he'd do well in a aio sump
It's not the greatest image and he's camouflaged pretty good there. Yeah, he probably won't do good in an AIO sump. Maybe someone local wants him?

I can't really make heads or tails of him, but since he's camouflaged pretty well, maybe a kind of decorator crab?

I've got a couple of hitchhiker crabs that have been living in the AIO space of my E170 for some months now - they can actually do alright in the rear chamber and it is a tall one.

It is 100% a gorilla crab. You can see the black on the tips of the claws if you really zoom in on the second photo.

If it were me, I’d give it a humane death. I believe protocol for crustaceans is to stick them in a bag of tank water in the fridge for 24 hours to essentially put them mostly to sleep and then put the bag in the freezer for another 24 hours. I had to do this to a hermit that got ripped apart by another hermit and was struggling to move around the tank.
