Don't know where to post it. Need ID that red "snail-like THING, and advice please. It attaches to the base of the clove. Is it a pest, a coral, a snail, or a critter?? Is it harmful and need to remove? TY.

Does it move when you touch it?

Looks like its coiled up

I have never touched or poked it. I think its like snail shell type. Looks dangerous.

I can't really make it out I thought it was a bristle worm that was coiled up

Sorry about the fuzzy photos. All I have is a very old Samsung Android phone. It's not a bristal worm for I have experience of removing them before. I think there is some type of "worm" living inside the red donut "shell".

Hopefully some one can identify

It looks like something in it that never sticks out and never moves. However, it grows bigger each day. If it were brown color I would've removed it long ago. Well, I will remove it anyway. I am just curious what it is. Thanks for replies.

Vermetid yes and using a screwdriver, try to lift entire casing up or loosen and grab with a pliers which is what I did when I discovered two of them. All gone for good

I used bone cutter to remove them, then spot sprayed with 13% HydroPeroxide and Logu's Potassium Iodide. Hope it worked.
