My eye for coral is improving, but im no pro yet. Either way my local LFS bless their heart are obvious freshwater fans...They have 1 large frag tank with some t5/Mh about 6 feet above the tank.

I tend to make a lap around it and try to find some gems, and this one caught my eye.

"Is this a Lepto??"

"No idea man, they just send me assorted frags...I need a better supplier....I'll give it to you for $10.00"

Takes a closer look at what looked like a sponge or something on it...

"**** there is a tiny starfish eating it!"

removes pest..."You still want it..."

"Bag it up bro" ...I had to save it!

Did I score???? Mouth is lime green, has a reddish / pink coloration for now.It seems to be coloring up each day since getting it acclimated.

Nice find!

I have an lfs near me that was the same way. Take advantage of it while you can because soon they'll hire somebody that knows what those corals are and what they're worth LOL mine did [emoji12]

The mouths look too large to be a lepto, but no way to truly tell scale. Kinda looks like a deflated echinata, but again scale is everything. I would say favia is also an option.

Favia coral I think

seems a little more stony than a Favia...I think I have a Dragon Soul (Foudn at same LFS for about 10 bucks) down below with my Acans. I had a bad batch of Dinos appear 2 weeks ago, I altered my LED lighting by upping the "Cool Whites" and fed it I think...I really regret that..so it's back to heavy blues..

Drax the Destroyer digging piles in the sand spreading silicates isn't helping... Favia and lepto in shot too!

The striped growth pattern and the way it connects to the next says lepto to me. Also that looks to be a small frag plug. I can tell because of the ribbing on it.

Definitely a lepto

Definitely a lepto

Nice was looking into ordering a jack-o'-lantern (hence this frag standing out to me) ...might wait to see how this one colors up now. I'm happy my coral senses are improving.

Nice I placed it under a semi shaded shelf I will get the DSLR out for better pics once it is happy and coloring up again thanks for the ID

Have you ever compared it to any Lithophyllon chalice pieces? The way it's fragged it's hard to tell in this pic, but for a while I swore I had a Lepto....until it took off one day. Turns out it's a Blue Eye Lithophyllon Chalice.
