So Long story short. My local Petco recently got a full makeover in the fish section. I was in the area and decided to take a look. Normally going home empty handed from Petco, except for the occasional dry goods I may have needed. But today i found this guy/girl. Nothing to crazy for pattern, but definitely unique in my eyes. Was labeled a lighting maroon. Can anyone confirm this? also a good price to pay for this guy/girl.

Thanks Reefers.

^agreed. I wouldn't expect the pattern to develop anymore than it has. As for price, I've seen these priced all over the place but I'd expect this one to be at the lower end of the spectrum.

bummer was hoping maybe it would change as it grew. $30 seem fair?

I think the minimalist pattern is kinda cool and I'm not a fan of clowns. I would have grabbed this one for $30. Good deal!
Thanks! i've never seen a lighting like it. (haven't seen many to begin with tho) wondering if the low grade or minimal pattern is more common or uncommon? correct me if I'm wrong the term misbar? for the broken center stripe?

also curious if anyone has advice for getting him/her a mate. anyone own any lightings wanna share some pictures? Thanks Everyone

Misbar really isn't a thing with Lightning's, since they're all kind of misbarred.

Finding a maroon a mate can be tough at times, I actually went through 2 mates trying to get mine. I did the acclimation box for a couple weeks letting out the little guy every so often, the first one really just wouldn't submit and he was getting beat all to crap, so I took him back and got a different mate that submitted on the 2nd entry into the aquarium.

Here's a pic of one of mine:

Great picture!! thanks for the info with the misbar part. Did you try and pair it with another lighting?

I recently paired up my 9 year old GS Maroon with a 1/2" Lightning baby. I bought him from a local breeder, I wasn't expecting it to be this small. I kept him in the sump for about a month making sure he could handle the food I feed, then one night I decided to drop him in. After about 20 minutes he found her......
