Is this a molting shrimp, or dying/dead?

Its the leftover molt of a shrimp that already molted, the real shrimp is probably hiding under some rock

A dead shrimp looks fluffy white and plump, not slightly transparent and thin

That looks like a molt, the shrimp will hide until it’s exterior hardens some.

Definitely a molt. Looks like a clean skeleton. mines always look like that.

He will be hiding until his new skeleton hardens. Since he is now a more susceptible prey.
