Just saw this last night. Can’t get a shot when it’s open.

New head?

hi,i do not see any tissue forming around hole, but does kinda look like ET, poking his head out ;) :)

Lol sorry, not the hole, but to hte right of it. It kind of looks like a clam shell. but it's not a clam.. it's growing from the skeleton structure.

I don't know what that is...but if a new head was forming, you'd know

That was about my thought when I looked at this initially. lol

Yeah, my experience with new heads is they look just like a normal head, but super miniature. You'll see tiny tentacles with the tips and everything.

This is the section i'm talking about.

I didn't notice it until about 2 weeks ago, can't say it was never there. I'll get a better photo tonight once i put the lights out.

It's hollow underneath some kind of film...

or at least it looks like it.

Do you have any pictures of before? It almost looks like the head is splitting to me. I typically have several heads split in the time that a baby head grows.

yes good possibility reforming in old skeleton ,are you sure not sponge?

That is skeleton where tissue was lost but leave it. That little E.T. image- may be a vermetid snail. can you come in closer for a pic ?

Possibly it is a sponge. That might make sense.

Here's what it looks like from the outside?

getting my photo lens's in today.

Maybe i can get some better pictures later.

It's so hard to tell from pictures sometimes. Is it possible that it lost a head? I also had a massive vermetid snail that had a crazy long tube that looked kind of like that. If the alien is a vermetid, perhaps its part of his tube?

If it's a vermitid it would actually make sense.

This is the slowest growing coral I have, which is super strange seeing it's an LPS.

My torch which was smaller than this when I got it, must be doing roids on the weekends.

P.s. rare shot of an actual torch mouth lol.

They’re like Zoas!

Alright.

It's not a new head.

It's something else.

And it's living on my gosh darn coral!

GRRRR .

It closes up when i tap the glass. meaning it's sensitive to sound/vibrations. (in the 2nd photo it's closed up more, in the 3rd it's open, i noticed it only because I took them back to back, and in-between my phone tapped the glass....)

what the heck is this????

hi not sure ,@KJ is the expert on weird critters ;)

Just to make sure you guys fully get which part I’m talking about it’s the far right. And I kept tapping on the glass and now it’s fully closed.

the little red tubes may be connected to the same creature.

it may be a simple vermitid snail.

if so what’s the solution here?
