Is this a new head growing, or something else.

Pretty new to reefing and don’t now got to recognize if this is new growth, or a sponge or something worse. It’s on my frogspawn.

Looks to be a harmless filter feeding sponge. You can remove or leave it. Up to you.

leave it be and keep an eye on it... sometimes they'll grow over the entire stalk and some people just don't like the look of them

I think it looks pretty cool, so all leave it, but keep an eye on it.
