So I got a fish around 2 weeks ago and 3 snails. The tank finished cycling 3 weeks ago. The diatom bloom has s going on, and their is algae all over the rocks and glass. No hair algae. I’m running carbon, no skimmer. 29 gallon tank and 10 gallon sump. Also have chaeto. It is kind of like a very light colored green algae on the rocks. Mixed in with some diatoms. Is it normal?

My last tank also had some green stuff, but no where near this much. I did have a lot more cuc though.

I see diatom and algae bloom which may be in part to indirect light/sunlight from nearby door and window. Id step up on the amount of cleanup crew.

I agree, likely a combination of both (algae and diatoms)

Yeah mostly algae but not from the sun as it’s in the basement. I’ll change it so that the light is on for only 8 hours. Can’t get any cuc because of the virus thing. Everything is so expensive because they don’t get a lot of things in. One place said 50 for the fire fish, and 20 for a blue legged hermit. I got the fire fish from some other place for 15 but the only snails they had where the three I got.
