I picked up a small frag of some type of blue zoanthid on the cheap some months ago. It has been humming along growth wise.

Some time ago, the large polyp seen behind them started growing in the middle of the colony. It started out completely brown and lately has developed a military green shade to its center and part of its "arms".

Is this classified as a Palythoa or something else completely?

Please don't give me grief about the sucky picture. It's for identification purposes only!:D

Not sure if it is double fringed or not. It could be as the "arms" alternate between long and short.

It is the large brown polyp behind the blues.

Thank you for that. In searching button polyp and with the information found, I have decided it is a Protopalythoa.

If anyone thinks I am wrong on this don't hesitate to correct me.

Thanks.
