I just got a shipment in. This was sold as a polythoa grandis. It is about 1/4 inch. I am not sure if it just needs to grow or if this is not a grandis. I have never had any before. Could someone confirm if it is or not.

While they are bigger then most palys the aren't grandis. I don't know the species off the top of my head but those are what I'd refer to as "button polyps". There are a couple of different grandis colour morphs but none like that.

The reason I made the order was I was wanting some grandis. I ordered 3 and 7 other types. Some of the other frags had random pylops on them. The website was having a sale. Even though I got a good price, but if you sell something and ship something different it is still ripping me off. That is why i hate buying online.

To contrary, I only like buying online because i know exactly what I'm getting but ymmv. Hence the reason I only shop at well reviewed vendors.

I have some of those. We call them Green Implosion around these parts. I give those out for free as do other locals since they grow so fast and crowd out other palys and Zoas. Some people online call them Palythoa Grandis but what I think you wanted to buy is Grandis Paly which these unfortunately are not. Grandis Paly are also called Palythoa Grandis which is where I think the confusion came in.

I had ordered from aquriumdepot.com. I had read a bunch of bad reviews but most were about corals arriving dead or being small. They ship 2 day instead on next day like most. I live in Florida so I knew I would get it next day and thought I would take a chance. Yeah I got ripped off. I emailed them a picture and they said they bought them as grandis but had not seen them open. They did refund the three but I had bought other Zoa and they were not right either. Two frags were just random and one had no pylops on it.

Same here green implosions. Typically free. I have a bazillion in a tank I'm breaking down soon. Not sure of their fate.

Button polyps for sure. Palythoa grandis have much larger polyps and an uneven mixture of brown, white, and green coloration.
