Hey guys!
I’ve been reading about the life cycle of Ich and based on that want to know if this quarantine method is safe. My QT is cycled, I’m just waiting on the importer torelease the new fish (they have to go through mandatory 2 or 3 week quarantine before entering NZ, they won’t be released if showing signs of diseases in which case they have to be treated or destroyed).
Is it safe to do 2 weeks of observation, then slowly raise the copper, then do 2 weeks of therapeutic copper, and then on day 14 of copper remove the fish and transfer it straight to DT? I want to copper for as short as possible because I do find longer copper periods (30 days) really hard to maintain levels perfectly. My thought is ich drops off fish in 7 days and needs a few more days to infecr fish if free swimming so after 2 weeks of copper the only remaining ich if any will be the ones stuck as tomonts on the bottom.
