is this a tenius of some sort? Has pretty good polyp extension and is super happy I think. Just trying to get more info on it

The store I bought from could not tell me either, there coral dept peeps were still in training I guess. Waiting for it to color up, if it does to see what I got. Either way, with the extension of the polyps, I am a happy person.

Definitely not a tenuis but looks very healthy. That's a bunch of new growth and you probably won't be able to ID it until it grows out a bit.

Went back to the store where I bought it from. He called it a birthday cake acro, looked it up and if that is what it is, it has some coloring up to do. But I don’t believe that is what it is.

What makes coral harder to ID is if they’re not coloured up or something affects their colouring IMHO.

For example it’s much easier to ID a coloured up acro than it is if they’re brown.

Its not a tenuis. Looks like some kind of wild acro. Give it some time to color up.
With wild acros you never know what they will look like.
Also the light plays a big part in what they look like down the road.
This is a wild colony I got awhile back. It was a faded pink color and stayed that way for a couple months under halides. I change my lighting to 16hds and within a month it looks like this.
Just give it some time and keep it healthy.

Yeah, for me part of the excitement is to see what you get after it colors up. Like a pack of baseball cards, we will see for sure!
This is what I enjoy, I do it witth wrasses too in which I’ll get a female or transitional male that is unidentified and will come out as something great. I got my naoko fairy wrasse this way actually.
