Is this a type of clove polyp?

I got this frag from a local guy. He said it was a type of clove polyp but it looks nothing like the cloves I already have.

Definitely different looking but I'd say clavularia sp.

Yikes, missed that one. I'd remove it from the tank and also inform the seller.

Tidal Gardens sells a frag of those for $50. Why not see if someone wants it before you trash it?

As an aside, blue sypodium is less intrusive than blue cloves. It will spread but not like wildfire as do blue cloves. Once it opens fully make a comparison to known photos for a positive id.

I haven't decided that I'm going to get rid of it. From what I've found so far some spreads faster than others and even when it becomes invasive when it goes head to head with other coral it looses ground. For the time being I'm going to hang on to it and read up some more before I make a final decision.
