Is this a type of sponge? Is it bad?

It’s white/ cream color grows like roots and grows very fast soft texture

Looks more like some kind of algae to me, but I can't say for sure based on the photo. Sponges don't grow very fast.

Sponge. Poriferan. Generally not a threat to anything and a good natural filter. They come and go, ebb and flow, depending on available nutrients
