Hey so I have had this hammer coral for about 4-5 months and was wondering if it is a wall or a branching hammer.

How can you tell?
something like 95% (my own numbers based on my experience over like 15+ years) of all hammers in the hobby are branching.
it would have been sold to you as a wall hammer not just a regular hammer.
Walls are extremely hard to keep alive, whereas branching ones can survive a nuclear apocalypse.

all that said, the only real way to know for sure is to look at the skeleton.

A branch.
Don’t find wall hammers on plugs much.
Usually cut flush so they could stand on their own.
These are almost all walls.

I had a wall for 5 years that was not on a plug and my new wall came on a plug so could be either way

Pic 1 old - lost due to fish biting causing bjd

Pic 2 & 3 replacement gold wall hammer, was surprised it came on a plug but it works and helps keep it above the sandbed
