Before I burn down the house, wanted to see if it is…there’s only one, and seems to be in the sand. TIA!

If not attached to the rock, scoop sand with Aptasia and toss.

Agreed. You want to do it quickly and might have to use a container so it can't spread its seeds/spores. If it does they will show up all over the tank.

Oh sorry. Probably fine if you didn't do that. Any other aptasia in the tank?
No, but I’ve got a colony of yellow polyp soft corals in the corner of the tank (about a foot away) and wasn’t sure if it was a stray. I just tossed the colony….I couldn’t tell if it was one of those or a bad guy.

That was going to be my guess was a yellow star polyp. It didn’t look much like Aiptasia I’ve seen

Ok, I’m glad. I felt bad throwing them away simply because they’re alive but I panicked a little. Lol

I don’t think yellow polyps are something many current hobbyists have seen. At least they don’t seem as common as they used to be (I think it’s cause they don’t glow under blues).

I wonder if it’s common for them to spread all over the place. I had them on an island, but it appears this guy went rogue

Unfortunately yes. They can grow like weeds and are difficult to control. Heard some people mention peppermint shrimp and nudibranchs as a way to control them. But results vary. Apraxia-X from RedSea works but it’s not a permanent solution.
