I know that by my hammer, these are aiptasia and so I bought a peppermint shrimp that hopefully won't attack the hammer or other corals.

But what are the smaller red things near my Xenia?

Peppermint shrimp isn’t gonna completely solve your aiptasia problem tho I’d go get some aiptasia x ur gonna have to help get rid of them yourself peppermint shrimp can be hit or miss they’re good at controlling it not getting rid of them

It’s kind of hard to tell by the photo, but I think the red things may be majanos. Also pest anemones that should be killed.

So once the peppermint shrimp have eliminated the aiptasia, what do you feed the shrimp?

I had 2 Aiptasias. I Got 2 peppermint shrimp. Aiptasia been gone ever since(over a year). And what do you feed the shrimp once the aiptasia is gone? Nothing of course. They’re basically clean up crew members lol they’re not going to go anywhere .

I don’t trust peppermint shrimp, every time I get them for Aiptasia issues they always end up eating corals, last time they ate 200$ gold octospawns- no thank you.

The Peppermint Shrimp picks its way around your aquarium and live rock to consume detritus, uneaten food, and decomposing organic material. And if you try using them to eat up your aiptasia problem you’re gonna wanna buy multiple cuz some aren’t gonna be interested in eating aiptasia but they still won’t solve the problem you have to manually remove them or kill them

Yikes I’m glad I went with a skunk cleaner shrimp and a fire shrimp I just found my emerald crab munching on my goniopora he’s now in algae heaven in one of my algae tanks
