Is this Aiptasia?

Hi I got an anemone from local fish shop. It was attached to a rock.

I put the entire rock with the anemone on it in my tank.

The anemone walked away but I see some other things growing on it. I am very new to this but heard horror stories of aiptasia over taking especially new tanks.

I still have a chance to pull the rock out since the anemone has now walked off somewhere else. Only reason I kept it in is to add a bit of biodiversity to my pretty clean tank.

Please let me know, should I pull it out? I don't want disaster here, I have already lost 2 fish in the last 3 weeks (unknown cause) and don't want things to get out of hand because it will put me off really badly.

Not sure what i am looking at bit alp i see are some random brown zoas. In any case it is not an emergency.

As for removing it personally i would if you are that concerned about aptasia. If you plan to be adding items to your tank though there is very little chance you dont get aptasia unless you qt everything and observe

That looks like a good rock with lots of life on it, I wouldn't pull it. Those aren't aiptasia, they are palys. They aren't really pests but they can spread quickly and may release toxins if handled improperly

I agree with Kenny. It is too symmetrical and the tentacles are too short.

On the right it’s zoanthid on the left of that I does look like aiptasia

I'll leave it and keep monitoring. Only recently learned that too clean a tank is really not so good either so trying here!

those look like zoas to me

I don't see any aiptasia, but I see a lot of scattered palys/zoas. I'd keep that for sure.

Even if you do get an aiptasia or two, it's not the end of the world. There are several effective ways to get rid of them.
