Definitely pull that frag plug out and throw the whole thing away. Those don't look like a special zoanthid. And even if it were, it's not worth the risk.

Get a syringe, some lemon juice, get the frag out if you can and put it in a small container with your aquarium water. Put the syringe tip in the mouth of the aptaisa and squirt it. You'll see it die instantly.

Best to get the whole thing out of your tank. Any messing with it will just make it spread and Bobs your dad your entire tank will be aptaisia. Don't poke it, don't scrape it just throw it away.

I wouldn’t throw the zoas away though especially if the aiptasias aren’t on them. I’d get a new plug, cut the zoas loose from the plug their on, and mount the zoas on the new plug, especially if they are high end zoas. Of course you could mount them to rock. I’d put the zoas in a separate tank after remounting for observation, like a 10 gallon tank or a QT tank for observation.

If they’re attached to the zoas themselves though I hate to say it but you might have to throw them out. Honestly I’d take majanos over aiptasia any day. I’ve had both over the years.

Agreed ! I’m currently battling an aiptasia war I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy loli tried to save this rock , but it was just better to throw it out lol

Turn off your flow and use aptasiaX to them and they die instantly.

Sadly that'll also kill the zoas if X touches them.

Tell me about it tanks looking a lot better without that rock. The peppermint shrimp are also making quick work of the smaller ones
