Is this algae?

Hi all,

Had my tank up for a couple months, only have three fire fish and 6-7 snails roaming around at the moment. The other day I noticed this on one of the trochus snails. Is it algae? I have some diatoms in the tank but no other hair algae except for what looks like on this one snail.

Very odd! Looks to thick to be hair algae. If it were mine I think I'd take it out of the tank and scrub it off.

I just tried that, not too much success. They seem to be growing out of the shell. All I did was damage the "whatever they are" See attached.

It might be some type of Cladophora.

Kinda funny that one of the species they mention to control it is Trochus snails...

i have 2 hemits that think there walking gardens as well

Are those feather duster-like extensions at the ends of those tubes in the first picture?
