Hi all,

I had a period of a couple of weeks where I feel like I over fed the fish, lost a snail and now I have what appears to be a green algae outbreak. I've attached a picture for reference but it appears to have broken out on the rock as well as the sand bed. I do a 25% weekly water change and once I vacuum the bed about 3 days later it is back looking like this. It has been this way for about 3-4 weeks now. I have cut back on feeding amounts but what else can I do? I read about aggressive skimming, does that just mean skim more water content? If I do that it goes a lot clearer. Any other recommendations?

The tank is pretty low stocked a 30 gallon with the corals you can see plus a wrasse and a coral beauty. Inverts are a pep shrimp and 4 snails.

Thanks again
Gavin

Hey Gavin, green algae is very normal in a tank. A larger cleanup crew will help.
For a 30 gallon I would start with at least 10 cerith snails which will help clean the sand and rocks, 5 trochus and 5 astrea snails.

Also sounds like you are doing the right thing with water changes.
