Ok guys so I bought a Paly frag like probably a month ago. And as I was feeding it I noticed something growing from it’s side with tentacles and I’m new to reefing so I honestly thought it was part of the coral and that a new polyp was forming. I would feed it along with my coral cause I’m thinking it was part of the coral it’s even the same color as the coral, along the way I suspected it could be an anemone but it was so tiny so I constantly just assumed it was a coral. Today I noticed the same anemone looking this was no longer attached to my coral but now attached to a live rock. I was hoping someone could identify this thing?

Aiptasia anemone. Pest. You'll want to remove it. Best way is to take the rock out, scrape it off,and put epoxy or superglue over where it was to prevent it from growing back if any fragments of it are left.

Thanks guys I decided to remove the rock itself and just moved my corals to a different rock. I tried scraping it off but there’s still a bit of it left. I saw that they multiply fast and removing it can cause it to spread. So I removed the rock first then scraped it off, but I don’t feel comfortable putting it back in so I’m going to leave the rock out. Last thing I need is having that thing spread in my new 90 gal

Get a syringe with a needle, get some lemon juice, then stab it and spray the lemon juice on it. That will kill it. Also don’t use too much lemon juice. A little will do the trick
