So today while I was picking up some salt at my lfs and allegedly a couple corals. They had a clown goby that appeared to not in the best of health. Store owner said he didn’t have time to quarantine it so he just gave him to me so I took him home not knowing which tank he’s going to live in and set up quarantine. I would like to put him in my 20 gallon zoa about 15 gallons in display tank but am afraid it will be overstocked. Currently have 2 baby Picasso clowns and a purple fire fish is this an ok place for him to go.

What concerns me most with this is that the fish is "Not in the best of health" WHY? Did you just introduce a fish riddled with parasites into your DT? Most fish can survive just fine in a smaller tank while young. My own Yellow Tang has lived almost a year in my 55g while it has grown from the size of a quarter to

the beautiful 4" size it is now. It needs a larger tank soon I know, and that has been the plan from day 1.

I’m crazy but not that crazy lol He’s not in my display he’s in a 5 gallon hospital tank I set up for him for so unfortunately for him for the next 30-45 days He’s all by himself I’m planning for when his stent in the ICU is over I just didn’t want to over stock that tank when he finally gets a clean bill of health I’ve got 3 other tanks in the house so plenty of options . I’m thinking he’s either got ick or sand stuck on him but I always qt new livestock for min 30 days regardless I made the mistake of not doing that on my first tank and lost a bonded pair of clowns and almost lost my mimic tang. Hard lesson learned

Hahaha ok copy that!! He should do fine in the 20g, assuming of course he survives QT.

Just make sure you are actively treating with something in the QT tank and not doing observations. Usually by the time a fish clearly has some identifiable disease, it can be too late to save them.

He’s got a single visible white ish bump on his head Gave him a dip in hydroplex when I put him in qt and will treat him with fritz

Clowns are well know brook carriers as you are probably aware. If he looks to be covered in sand dust that is a bad sign.

It’s all good my black storm came to me with brook and after a long hard battle I managed to bring him back from the brink with the help of our local vet and the formalin she happened to have he came in with a Picasso we lost the Picasso but saved the black storm he’s been with us for almost a year and a half now the family has become very attached to him I became attached to him during his qt nothing like waking every morning was a hoping and praying he’s still alive to make you appreciate it him but he pulled through and He’s now paired with a Darwin in my 90 mixed reef.

It should be alright as gobies don’t have a big bioload but id still recommend keeping an eye out. The already established fish (especially the clowns) may bully him for a few days until established in the hierarchy.
