Is this anything to worry about?

Okay so, I’m not worrying or anything yet (I think it was a rock) but my tang - Ctenochaetus binotatus - has managed to rip a nice chunk of scale? Off. I was wondering if this is anything to worry about or if it may just heal itself over time.
Sorry for the blue pictures, I only just noticed it and my lights aren’t on white anymore. Also he swims WAY too fast haha.

He does get himself into a few fights with the foxface every so often, he darts in and out of the rocks a bunch so it wouldn’t surprise me if he did get it from the rocks.

thats not a good thing at all. It will lead to stress and damage both lead to disease. you may have to consider rehoming one

it is a 'wound' - and fairly big - I would watch it very carefully for any signs of infection (redness, etc) - and also watch the fins for any sign of red streaking - which would mean a systemic infection. I guess the main thing is - watch for any changes (except improvement). Some might recommend a dip with an antibiotic - I guess I would hold off on that unless there are any negative changes.

PS - if it was a rock it was probably becasue the other fish chased it into the rock (or some other stress), or it was a fish that caused it - either way - I would watch the tank carefully - and watch for any potential stressors - and try to remove them.

BRS also has products designed (?whether they help or not) - to help form a new slime coat - while it heals.

I believe thats what I said. Observe carefully for any causes of 'stress' - and remove if necessary. As I tried to say - fish don't usually just 'bump' into rocks and hurt themselves unless they are being chased - or directly attacked.

BUT - sometimes someone coming up to the tank suddenly - or another stress can cause a fish to damage itself (I.e. jam into a coral or rock). So - my comment was just directed at making sure the problem was correctly diagnosed.

Certainly - if the tang is being bullied at all - it should be temporarily removed from the tank - to help promote healing/less stress.

The long-term solution ie. rehoming - may very well be needed.

EDIT - and additionally - moving it to a hospital tank of sorts - if needed - will allow easier treatment of the wound

Okay, update:
No sign of aggression, he completely ignored the foxface the whole day today. HOW has it gotten bigger? The fight with the foxface was one time and that was last month (Rather early January actually). It was the only REALLY bad fight I have seen, the other time it was just displaying colours and fins against the Genicanthus melanospilos. And even then those two ignore eachother altogether, my main sign that there is aggression in the tank comes from the tilefish. He will hide for a few days and only come out for food if ANY fish is aggressive. Even if it’s not direct aggression he will still go into hiding. The tang is currently cruising the tank quite happily and not darting or anything, the foxface is happy as can be and so are the other shy fish (CBB, Radiant Wrasse, Both Lubbocki Fairy Wrasses). Actually the CBB is unaffected altogether and is just swimming at the top in the flow of the tank.
While not my BEST photo, this is all I can get of the larger marking now… I hope to get to the bottom of this. It’s not even like a fish bite, and if anything it’s main cut is in the shape of a scalpel which is even more strange, due to him being the only fish with a scalpel in the tank.

What is ODD (very) to me - is that to me - it almost looks like a raised 'something' attached to the fish - in a couple of your pictures - I know that sounds nuts - it could just be a mucus slime coat? or I could be seeing things - whats your impression?

He’s fat as ever and his pattern seems to be there on the strange bit. It does look slightly raised and has weird “Ruffled” edges. I had no idea so I thought I may ask you guys and see what you think, his pattern is definitely there just much lighter than the rest of his body. If anyone was aggressive it would be my two Halichoeres but again, they ignore my tang altogether and just go at eachother (Will be rehoming the Jade in the future, for now it’s reasonable aggression and just a chase of dominance every so often).

if it’s still there tomorrow I will definitely be grabbing a photo in white light or before lights on if he’s awake then.
