Hey guys just bought a small piece of rock with a bunch of zoas attached to it last night. Added it to my tank and by the time they were acclimated and in my tank the moonlights were on so i didnt notice these. Got home from work (about 24hrs in my tank) and noticed 2 little things attached to the rock that look like aptasia. I immediately grabbed a ziplock container and quarantined it between my locline return lines to keep the zoas at good temp. If these are aptasia how can i remove them? Theyre only on this little rock i looked everywhere else in my tank and havent seen them anywhere else. How fast do they spread/is 24hrs enough time for them to have spread and hid in my tank? Heres some pics with zoomed up best i could get

this bottom pic you can see the second one in the bottom middle wedged between that crack.

Monsters! Yes those are them. I have gotten great success with bone cutters. Rinse in coral rx, then fresh saltwater. May the Force be with you.

Be aggressive. Since this rock is a new addition, you can easily remove the rock and scrape it vehemently. Break the rock if you have to and dig them off. Glue or epoxy over it ... whatever it takes. Don't rely on a cuc this early in the game. Go get it yourself.

Yep that is in fact aiptasia and I agree with being aggressive as they can spread FAST. Don't just try to smash them in there, it seems to make them spread faster.

Get some aptasia-x and shoot it. I had a little outbreak of aptasia awhile ago. I Used aptasia-x and purchased some peppermint shrimp. So far so good.

Just so happened when I went to my lfs to get ro water there was one box left of aiptasia x. Since red sea has a good reputation i gave it a shot. Stuff was amazing! You can literally see them implode it was awesome mwahahahah. I only had 2 aiptasia anemones and checled this morning and theyre toast. I still have a ton of it left so if i ever run into it in the future ill be ready [emoji106] [emoji41]

Good Deal! There is a chance that when you blast them they'll spread. I purchased a few peppermint shrimp and let them go to town. Since I added them I've only seen a few aptasia's in the middle of the rockwork where they can not reach. I only know this because I just tore down the tank for a upgrade.
