Hey so I have this newly cycled tank and I have some crazy looking algae growing on the rocks, it’s the purple hair looking algae in the pics below. I also have some green hair algae I think growing all around the tank. I just cycled this tank and I have high nitrates so I will do a water change and get a protein skimmer soon. But is this algae really bad or is it just usual stuff that is good for a growing tank?

That I believe is cyanobacteria. do your water changes and let it disappear, If you get too giddy you can always use chemiclean but I am not fond of chemicals

Its not good really, but very common. It is cyano. It is definitely not "really" bad.

When you do a water change suck it out with the siphon. Get that skimmer going and get some more flow in the tank. Cyano hates high flow.

I do believe it's Cyano. All the stuff that's a wonderful part of a new tank. Mine was covered in some sort of algae. I scrubbed rocks by hand and a tiger conch took care of my sand. Eventually the tank fully cycled and I'm looking good! Patience is key my friend.
