Hi all;

I recently got delivered a new trash bin from the city and I’d like to use it to make and store ro/di. It’s around 60-75 gallons I’d say ( I don’t really have any clue actual size). It just looks as a standard recycling bin ultimately, just don’t know if it will leech anything into my ro/di

It is not considered food grade so yes it most likely will leach something.

Your #2 on the can means it is made from HDPE . High density Polyethylene. While the HDPE is safe, they make milk jugs out of it. You dont know what kind of mold release was used or if any other chemical was added. Since it is for trash, food safe was not taken into consideration.
