I picked this up today, it was sitting at the bottom of the "premium live rock" aquarium at an LFS.

It looked alive so I grabbed up on it. Most of my current corals are SPS and I'm still learning about them so I know nothing about brains or LPS for that matter.

I just got it and I don't expect it will open up or make any sort of noticeable moves any time soon, but it does feel hard, I'm not sure if that is a bad sign or if that is just how they feel when they are closed.

Also is this a specific type of brain? I've seen lots of brain corals that look totally different so I'm guessing there are multiple types.

I think it still alive. Give a day or two.if its bleached probably a little light for now till it gets back or acclimate with your light.

I think it is dead or dying... yesterday the round edges started to look more like thin spines and today it looks like it's shedding all of its "skin". Underneath the layer of 'skin' is totally bleached in most areas and only a few areas still have color... I'm going to leave it in there at least for another week or so, but is she a goner? I didn't get to move it to the sandbed until today and I the coral amino acid I ordered also came in today. I misted it with a acid/water mixture with a dropper when I moved it to the sand.
