I can't determine what this is. I noticed last night that part of my clown looked white. I looked closer, and it almost looked like white velvet covering part of him. This morning, it looks a little better. It now looks like his color is fading on only part of his body. It doesn't look slimy. Other than the white patch, he seems perfectly healthy. He is not lethargic, doesn't seem to be in distress, and is eating well. He is not scraping against things. I have a 20 gallon tank. I have 2 clowns that I've had for 1 year and 1 damsel that I've had for 6 months. Nothing else in the tank. Other than a couple snails and a shrimp that died about 7 months ago, nothing else has been in the tank. I attached a picture. It is hard to get a good pic because he is very active.

Velvet would cause rapid breathing, Brook would cause clamped fins. Take a look at the article I posted here on mucus.

Happy to learn that you have no newcomers in the tank. That makes a selflimiting, benign entity more likely. Keep on observing closely!

Great article. I will just keep an eye on him. It has been more than 24 hours since I noticed it, and he is still very active and doesn't appear to be ill or in any distress. Other than the white patch, he is completely normal.
