I ordered these clowns the other day and the bigger one came in with whitish looking stuff on him. I just wanted a second opinion on what this could be?

And no, they have been acting everything but normal. I found the bigger clown seeming to gasp for air and try to jump last night so I turned the return flow to the surface produce more oxygen. It also seemed there colors were fading. I thought they were going to be dead by the morning, but they seem to be better now (color is back, swimming shyly around the middle of the tank).

Ammonia was a little high (0-0.25 ppm) so I did a water change
I think I am feeding way too much so I will cut down on this.

Nitrite: 1 ppm

nitrate: 20 ppm

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Visually, yes, this does look like Brooklynella. A 5 minute FW dip may buy you some time, but formalin is the best medication, tough to find though. Some people have had good luck with Ruby Reef Rally Pro.

I hate to say it, but if you've had these less than say, 72 hours, you should contact your LFS as they probably had this issue when you got them, it was just sub-clinical. If the store has had issues with their tank after they sold these to you, they really should cover any loss for you......

Thank you for the insight!
This is such a bummer, though. I bought these guys off of saltwaterfish.com and I could tell there was a problem with them straight out of the bag.
I have fought brook and saved some fish, but formalin is not easy to get and it only lasts about 6 months effective before expires. I would try to return them, So sorry.
Aw man. I will contact them right now.

Many of these stores mix the tank bred and wild caught fish systems and the captive bred always suffer from lack of exposure to the disease. Sorry!
