I think this is Bryopsis. It got slowly worse and then exploded. None of my clean up crew eat it as well.
i do not want to use fluconazole since I have a 10gallon tank, and I worry about my pistol shrimp, and mangrove.
I’ve heard lettuce nudibranchs are one of the few things that deal with it (I know they don’t eat it exactly). But are there any other things that eat it? I have a bunch of urchins in my other tank, and may add one to see.

It may be the beginning of Bryopsis, kinda hard to tell, I had some in my tank and what worked for me was manual removal and spot treatment with 3% peroxide. Just try not to directly hit any corals when spot treating.

Green hair algae. Good thing too its much easier to remove than bryopsis.

Hmm. Yeah, I had the same thoughts as you guys since it doesn’t have the particular structure Bryopsis is known to But I just found it weird how much it exploded, and how the clean up crew I have all seem uninterested in eating it. I’m thinking this is some sort of other type of Bryopsis or hair algae that is less desirable in terms of being eaten. I’m going to add an urchin and see. But hopefully it eats it. If it doesn’t then that’s very perplexing.

Either way I need to manually remove it and I’ll use some peroxide as well

Also I think some slime is starting to grow, but I’m not as worried about that since the algae growth has most likely caused a nutrient imbalance

There is a trick to GHA. You need to syphon from you tank to a filter sock in your sump. This means you can syphon until your fingers turn to prunes! I pinch a small chuck with my finger tips while holding the hose in my hand and let the clump get sucked up. Once I have all the large chunks I zip tie a brush to the hose and srub while syphoning. Very easy to manually remove.

In 20 years I haven't seen anything touch GHA. It will clean up the leftovers from syphon but nothing will eat it when its fully growing sorry.
