I was just looking at my snail and noticed these strange bubbles forming on it's shell. At a glance I thought they were air bubbles which I thought was a little odd because that's never happened before. On closer inspection though, these are definitely not air bubbles. I'm inclined to think it's a bubble algae (I also noticed a brown algae too that is hard to see in the pic) but I don't see it anywhere else in my tank. Is this a bubble algae or does my snail have other issues going on?
Would it be appropriate to just stick my hand in the tank and give it a rub down or would I be encouraging it to spread to other parts of my tank?
I was planning to get at least a couple more snails this weekend so would it be smarter to wait and let the new roommates give it a good cleaning instead?
I'm still pretty new to the hobby so I'm trying really hard not to freak out and do something stupid. I also know this is not something I should ignore and hope it goes away on it's own. Any help and advice is greatly appreciated!
