Is this clam gonna be ok?

Bought this maxima from my LFS a couple days ago. I noticed when I put it in my tank that it has what looks like a brown bite mark on it. I inspected for, but did not see any pests on the clam.

Was nice and open for the first couple of days, but seems to be a bit more retracted now.
Would a FWD be beneficial?

Don’t dip a clam. Usually people just inspect shell and scrub with a small new toothbrush if needed. Could be a fish has been picking at it, parameters or not enough light.

No fish picking at it in my tank. I noticed the bite immediately upon addition. Should be at 200-250par where it is now.

Hmm only other thing I could think of is that it’s on the sand. Maximas prefer rock to attach to. Unless it’s already attached to a rock and it buried in the sand?

It's attached to a clam hammock on the sand for light acclimation. Figured I would give it a few days before I move it up

Flow to high? Have you looked at it an hour or so after the lights have gone out to see if there is anything crawling on it/bothering it?

Im reluctant to do any dipping. These clams require the most light of any clams but dont overdo it. My suspicion may be excessive flow. They need flow to get food and plankton to them but not excessive. Parameters play a large importance. . . . .

• Temperature: Do not let the aquarium exceed 80° F.
• Salinity / Specific Gravity: Do not exceed 1.025.
• pH: Do not exceed a pH above 8.3.
• Hardness: Maintain a dkh no higher than 9.
• Nitrate not to exceed 10
• CA not to exceed 460
• Mag not to exceed 1330

Then turn off your flow completely for a few minutes. If it’s healthy and the flow was the problem, it’s mantle should open up without the flow. If it doesn’t fully open in no flow situation that’s a good indicator something is wrong with it.

Something tasted him, very recently, source tank maybe.
Do nothing, unless you find a second mark.
That’s why he’s retracted though...
