Is this considered a leather coral?

That is a leather alright. Just keep it away from sps and you should be fine. I have read they can crash a tank but I know many many many people in the hobby with leathers and I have never seen it happen. Not saying it cant but not something I would worry to much on. Just keep it healthy and you wont have any problems. They are very harty corals and hard to kill. I would assume if a leather dies and whipes out a tank you had way bigger issues and the leather dieing was just the last straw.

That sucker has branched off so big 5 tips have broken off and reattached to other rocks. I've moved 3 to another tank. But the problem is I have a regular 3.5 inch leather as well and I'm wanting to add sps frags into the tank. Total water volume 85 gallons and I'm running a cup of carbon in a reactor. Will this be a problem?

Atleast 6 types of leather, 30 types of zoa/paly, 8 types of shroom, 20 types of lps, 15 types of sps 2 nps. And I'm under estimating. More than a year all are well. Just takes the right amount of attention And care. You can make it work.All of these are in a 40 breeder along with 12 fish and multiple inverts Not to mention anemones. The worst thing you have to worry about with that Kenya tree is it getting on everything. Run a little bit of carbon somewhere in your system and it should be fine. Just my experience and advice.

It is a Kenya tree. I don't think it releases chemical "MUCH" if not bothered. However, most coral has some sort of chemical war-fare when put near each other...! I have seen nice SPS reef with them, Kenya tree, in the tanks.
If so, is it the kind that would release toxin and kill sps?

Ok That's exactly what I'm finding. Combine that with letting out toxins. I'll have to start getting the extras out and giving them away

Yep. I would actually "prune" my Kenya tree every time I did a waterchange. If you very gently tug on the branches those that are ready to drop just pop off. Soon you will learn to spot the signs and can catch them before they fall and attach to things.

You are always going to have to give them away. I got kenyas on some live rock I bought and they were maybe 4 of them about 2". Within a year they have grown to about 7 inches and I have 10 now. They do release toxins, I was stupid and uneducated and tried to touch one of the frags with my hand to get it to connect to my rock and my fingers had cuts all over it after that. Plus side they're super easy to care for, I never did anything special and this was my fist salt tank so when I started I had bad lighting and no water flow but they were always very resilient.
