sporting a new look... not done yet but hopefully, it'll get better from here... I plan on cleaning up the sand bed a little more... I just wanna have a few nice size chalices and rainbow LPS on the sand bed for more color... left main rock will have some colored sticks on top and hopefully cover the rest of the rock with z's and p's... middle section will highlight the FL ricordia/Yuma mini falls... and the right side highlights the monster SuperMan monti with a few other monti's and more z's and p's... much props to my bro (Mabisyo) for helping out... watch out for his thread soon...

btw, just Blue+ are on for the pics...

I like that, a lot of realstate for coral and fish to swim around. Not much rocks taking up the visual appearance of it.

Have you thought about breaking up the middle and forming two islands? The minimalist aquascaping thread on reefcentral has a lot of good ideas on it.

the prob i've always had going "minimalist" with rockscape has been surface area for coral growth - it always seems like there isn't enough rock to glue corals on
how do you fit corals with room for growth? plus where do the fish hide at night?
i like the idea and the look, but i always end up putting more rock in. i guess it takes more disciplin then i have

Im going quality over quantity.

There should be plenty of spots for any small fish I plan to keep and the large rock on the right has some caves on the back for the 2-3 bigger fish...

I re-aquascape to make the fairy and flasher wrasses happier... I didn't feel that with that the 2 island was good enough for them, maybe just the way I aquascape my 2 islands...

I also pretty much mapped out what corals will go on different areas of the tank... I have in my mind.. hopefully it'll come into fruition in the next year or so...

I have lots of caves inside the scape and all the fishes seem to find their niche within the rockwork so that's pretty cool... as for coral placement... like Ian, I will aim for quality rather than quantity... after a few years of seeing what's out there, I have an idea what corals I want to keep...

Here is what my tank looked like a few months afterr I set it up. It was what I considered a minimilist aquascape. It is a 125g all glass tank. I didnot want the "fruitstand" or rock wall look, and have room behind the rock as well as in front of it.

Here it is a few months back at just over 2 years old. All acroporas were grown from frags, and I have run out of room for any new corals. I tried to give a good 4 to 6 inches of room between frags for growth, and in the end it is not enough room. They grow quickly, so I have started to use the back wall of the tank to add magnetic frag disks and such.
