Hi I am 3 months into this hobby and I purchased this coral 6 days ago. I believe it’s a green star polyp I think. we’ll it hasn’t came out for the past 3 days wondering if it’s dead or dying ?

taking corals out of water is not good, even if they are alive they can look dead because moving them around and taking them out of water stresses the hell out of them. Leave it in a good spot in the tank for a week and see how it does.

tank is a bit young IMO

Params?

Lighting?

Flow?

hi,welcome to the reef , star polyps very much alive, just give them time to adjust.
if get coated in algae ,etc, gently blow off w turkey baster.

Fun story about green star polyps.

I bought a running and overgrown120 last year and had a lot of cutting back to do.

One rock that was not particularly interesting. Looking had so much GSP on it. I decided to just nuke the rock. Left it outside in the California summer for a week plus, Soaked it in both diluted muriatic acid and diluted bleach. I also hit it with a power washer..

Wanna guess what showed up on the rock when it was back in a brute trash can, cooking??

If you guessed GSP you would be right. Just leave your frag in the tank, try to keep it clean from Algae and it will open up.

Thanks for the information. Is there anything wrong with this coral has a little spot at the tip of it on the left side

blow spot clean,move off sandbed.
montipora i assume.

Cant tell out of the tank - BUT - GSP can remain closed for multiple weeks and re-open. The color - to me - looks 'odd'. GSP Base is usually colored purple. No matter what it is - I would give it a couple days. Also - check to see if it smells (bad) - if so - I would toss it.

correct ,blow off spot with baster.

Agree with what you're saying - but....

Ph around 7.8 8.0 /temperature 78/ phosphate clear/ today ammonia level at 0.25
Being that you have coral - You are going to need to test more parameters than that - Alkalinity - Calcium - Magnesium - NitrATE etc.

Ammonia at 0.25, if a legit level is not good with livestock in the tank either. Assuming you cycled the tank?

The starfish on the glass looks like a "Linckia" and one of those in a newly set up tank let alone a small 20g is a very bad idea - Just a heads up.

As for the coral in the image - Its very much alive and has plenty of colour. If it is GSP, agree with others its likely to be then just give it time.

Yes tank was fully cycled a hole month before putting live stock in

I don't understand what this is meant to show, these guys grew like this on their own, and haven't been dragged around.
its designed to show - that - corals acclimate - your statement - not to take corals out of water was false (depending on the coral) - The one problem I see on this site is giving up on a coral. - when it 'looks dead'. that IMHO is a mistake
