Two independent questions.

Why dip crab in coral dip?

Without knowing the species, note tips of each claw. If either tip is pointed, it is not fish/shrimp safe. Both tips are flat on Emerald Crabs to facilitate scraping algae from rock surfaces.

DIP =>This is a new sponge I bought in my LFS, there are several crabs, will be hard to remove manually but I don't know if the coral dip will kill them or not. I can also see some brittle stars I don't want to kill..

Help me understand. Are we looking at a quarantine tank or a display tank?

I would be more concerned about injuring an ornamental sponge. What’s in your coral dip? What does the vendor claim to target?

here is the crab again, there is another but its white and furry

And here the other crab

the other crab looks like a porcelain crab. does it have 3 pairs of legs? i cant really tell if it has 3, but if it has 3 its safe and friendly.

Hello!!,, end of story, I have returned this super cool piece to my LFS

Thanks for the help

I would've taken the chance. If you have a sump, it would've been a great place

I would let it live on the sponge like it probably does in its natural habitat.

You should not dip sponges
