So ive had cyano for almost the entire life of the tank... it dosen't bother me very much because it usually stays undercontrol. But just lately it has started to get stringy and annoy my corals as you can see in the corals. Is this cyano or is it some other type of algea?

Cyano, honestly you should be a little concerned ,cyano sucks oxygen out of the tank, you should try to get rid of it imo

Try upping the flow a bit. Syphon out what you see every time you do a water change. Use filter socks if possible and change them every couple days.

What is your lighting?

Sorry i was unclear, When i said its under control i mean it is only patchy and i suck it out every waterchange. So im not worried but Im interested in getting rid of it :D

It's going to keep coming back , it mostly related to your nutrients in your system , when it starts to cover your corals you can have a serious problem, have, try to locate the source of the nutrients and get rid of it

Yeah I just added another powerhead :) and i do suck it out... i have read quite a bit on how to get rid of it, I'm more just trying to make sure cyano is what this is :)
I have black box leds!

Yeah and I'm in "get rid of it" mode!
I am just clarifying that this is in fact cyano since i have never see it get stringy and go on the corals. Its hasnt taken up anymore space in the rest of the tank.

What are your no3 and po4 at , also if your missing some trace elements in your water it can cause algae blooms and cyno .. ever considered doing a triton test ?

No3 is just under 10 ppm. I do not have a phosphate test(I have heard they cant give and accurate reading in the amounts we test for?)
I have cheato in my sump as well :)
I deffinitly would like to do that... i am uncertain on how to do that or how much it costs.
