Is this dead? (Or should I keep trying?)

This was my tester acro stick in my first saltwater tank... I added it around the 4 month mark, it gets plenty of flow and light... and all parameters are in check...
Should I get this out of the tank now? Or can I still try and bring it back to life... I’m a sps noob, so not sure when to stop trying by this looks pretty dead to me? I mean I heard sps brown out when transferred into new tanks, but this isn’t getting any better

This is what It looked like before... sorry I failed you stick

I’m no sps expert but that is NOT dead! Justbrown prob from zooxanthellae accumulation maybe

Yeah that one has just browned out, how high is it in the tank and how are the parameters?

I can tell by the fact that a torch and macro algae are higher up and the coral is shadowed that even though you may think it’s ok, I’d say it’s getting nowhere near the flow and light it needs. Hang onto it and move it to the top until it’s stark white or recovered.

Good to hear!
I was hoping there was still some fight...
it’s not the highest point in the tank, but not far off, the angle of that pic makes it look weird here is a better shot

The power head is pointing in the direction of the stick, but it’s a little above as to not get direct flow...
Parameters
As of yesterday are
No3: 2
Po4: 0.01
Kh: 8
Ca: 400
Mg: 1200

I was going to put more Acros on that top rock down the line but looking at how I haven’t done so well with this one, I might make the tank euphyllia heavy, and not do acro...
I have a piece of rainbow monti that is thriving though (although I know that’s an easy sps)

None of my corals are glued yet, I’m still trying to figure out what corals like which spot in this tank, and what works...
I’m also going to be upgrading to a nero 3 and would like to put it against the aio wall, so that will change the flow, so will probably move things around

Do you have any par readings?

Brown corals means there is not enough light for them. So they are packing their "skin" with zoox to compensate for the lack of light to feed the zoox.

Considering you have a torch at the highest spot in the tank, tells me you have no where near enough light for colorful acro's.
Yes your probably right... I’m defenatly not running the light full power for fear of overcooking things and algae...
would be great to get my hands on a par meter...

Ok so move it up and ramp up the lights?
The powerhead is a hydor koralia 240gph... should I blast that right on the acro or just offset it, not sure how much flow sps can with stand?

Ok will ramp up the lights!
I upgraded to a prime maybe 2 months ago, and I thought for sure it was running stronger, but maybe not...
I really need to find a par meter

Those are good lights. If placed at the right height above the water, and with proper coral placement, acros should color up nicely.
