Is this diatoms ?

Hard time removing it, comes back easily, looks like brown hair algae.

The stuff on the gravel looks different. It’s flat more of a rusty colour and comes out easy with siphon but again returns quickly.

any ideas ?

I’m pretty sure the sandbed is diatoms just unsure on the wall

Bubbles are gases trying to escape from algae

I’ve got about 5 hermits in a 60L. Going to send a ICP off on Monday I think because I can’t get a true reading of no3/po4 with Salifert. I this i know what’s coming.. snails? it’s been on my list a while I just keep forgetting to pick them up

Some snails for diatoms are: Astrea, trochus, nerite and cerith

You won’t get a true reading unfortunately as the algae is sucking up your nutrients.
