Possibly but You would be taken a risk as it could have been sprayed with chemicals. If you do, make sure you clean it very thoroughly

Thanks for the response I'm gonna stay away from the gift shop stuff and just use the rock I got that's specific for reefing.... I'm gonna use a lil epoxy/ aquarium glue to keep the pieces secure cuz im gonna do a tall island style... any advice on a good glue or epoxy? Also wondering if I Should pre-drill some holes for frag plugs ?

If you are planning on moving around the corals you have then drilling frag plugs is a good idea. You could also detach the corals from the plugs and glue them on a permanent spot, it's just more of a process and you take the risk of hurting the corals

I might just do like 3 frag hole spots 1 high, 1 middle , and 1 low so I can make sure whatever coral is happy at whatever height in the tank... I've heard some corals like it high and some like it low- so with the different height frag holes I can play with it. then my idea going in will be once ive got a piece of coral on a plug doing good I'll chip off some and put it in a permanent spot- if I understand correct... when you buy coral from the stores it typically come on those lil plugs correct? Thanks for the response I'm very excited to get started - sorry I'm so green here

Candidly, I have done this before I understood the risks and potential ramifications and thankfully did not have any issues. While it would be very hard to say that it definitely will be a problem or it definitely will be fine, now that I know more I would not recommend adding it to your tank because of the potential problems that you could create. Good luck!
