Seriously, the tendency (which many of us share!) to reach for a miracle cure is strong...."why?" is a deep question. But it's strong!
I don't really remember when I first saw that algae pictured in the first post, but now it's about 1.5+ years since this thread started. Considering how much of that time I spent fiddling around researching and trying the miracle cures I tried (thankfully not all!!!!), my tank is doing pretty well!
It's a wonder to think that I could be even further along the path of recovery if I'd known enough to start out with the overall tank correction and then just move straight into nutrients and feeding.
In my defense, at the time it was a very peculiar algae in a fairly peculiar circumstance, so maybe my curiosity made me hesitant to see the real problem sooner. And I now know more about algae blooms and erosterols than I ever thought I would!!
