Excuse the sorry excuse for a drawing, but is this possible? I'm think, in can close valve B, open A and water will come out the end, into my bucket for a quick water change. Is this possible? Anything I would need to add? Thoughts appreciated

It will certainly work - to the point your return chamber in your sump runs out of water. So if that's enough to accomplish your desired water change amount, you're good to go.

Beat me to it! You can also siphon the new water into the sump when draining the water out making it twice as fast!

I think so, I'm planning on doing 10 gallon water changes biweekly on a 90 gallon

My preferred method for water-change is:

Brutes on dollys..... 1 empty, one with new water.

Spare return pump with flexible hoses attached. Put intake hose in each sump section one at a time draining my sump, into empty brute

Drain additional water from display tank with same pump if I want a larger water-change.

Old fashioned suction/gravity method to clean the sandbed/bottom

Put extra return pump’s intake in new water, fill sump all the way, turn on tank’s return and keep filling in the sump until display is full, and sump is back to desired water level (put in what I took out)

Refill my new-salt brute, dump waste water by just rolling it over to a side-door and dumping.

Pretty easy.

Water-changes with just the overflow will neglect the sandbed/bottom..... My new tank will be bare-bottom so I may need a lot less manual siphoning, but we will see
