my tank is almost three years old. No new additions in at least 5 months. I have two clownfish that have been together almost two years. One blue hippo and one white spot puffer. I’ve never seen any aggression.

Yesterday I noticed one of my clowns (the bigger one) has a large piece of its tail fin missing. It looks like the other clown has similar leasions, but not as bad.

All of the pictures I’ve seen of fin rot look like the fin turns a whitish color.

Both are still eating great. What do y’all think? Fin rot or am I missing some aggression?

Looks like aggression damage to me, it is not uncommon for clowns to turn nasty. I don't know what it is, but one day one just decides it doesn't like the other.

It looks aggression to me as well. I'm sure someone more experience in disease will chime in, but the chunks missing seem too perfectly cut to be fin rot. In my limited experience with fin rot, it has more of a disintegrated look to it.

Thanks for quick reply. Do I need to separate or just let them figure it out?

Agree 100% looks like a bite out of the tail! A fishy disagreement! :)

Welcome to R2R!

I agree with everyone else. This looks like a case of clowns being clowns (jerks).

I'd give it a couple days before you pull anyone unless it gets relentless or the clown with damaged fins starts showing signs of infections. Who knows, he might have actually said she looked fat in the dress?
