New to the reef world so is this dead, dying or just going through some transition? My vote is dying at best. Any advise is welcome.

It's dying. Not dead yet, but in the progress of dying.

If something happened that triggered this, and that thing stopped, it might recover. If nothing special happened, then something might be wrong, and it will continue to die until the cause is fixed.

What are some parameters and age of tank. Id say imo cut ya the healthiest non stn branch off and hope it'll pull through. I have mine in lower/mid light in lower flow (behind tang)

Is it getting blasted by the direct flow from a return or power head?

Damage looks spotty and random.
Somebody pecking at that?
Not dead, but in trouble.
What are your parameters at and how long stable.

Parameters are all very stable and not in any direst water flow. The tank is about a year old...55 gallon had been doing great and was growing well. This literally happened in like a day. I haven’t seen anything nibbling.

Yellow Tang, pair of clowns, royal grandmama, purple dottyback, cleaner shrimp, a few turbo snails.

Dying:

test for and verify:

High alk
Flow too high
Lights too brite
High calcium and/or Mag
any little bugs or flatworms on it
