Hello everyone, my 5 year old Yellow Coris Wrasse got his butt handed to him by something today. About 4.5 inches long and had been very healthy. Oldest fish I own. He is still swimming around at the moment but seems incredibly disoriented and occasionally running into things or turned over. Tried eating just a little bit ago. I'm just not sure what caused these wounds. Possible anemone sting? I have a quite a few RBTA's that my maroons just laid eggs near and a dinner plate sized Sebae. Im thinking maybe the coris tried going for the clown eggs and got a little too close? Do these wounds look like anemone stings?

Maroon aggression perhaps?

If I had to guess that is maroon clown damage. Anemone stings don't usually present themselves in that manor. It is usually darkened skin that looks more like a bruise. That looks like flesh has been completely removed. Best thing you can do at this time is give the fish a 90 minute bath in Ruby Reef Rally and then place back in the tank in an acclimation box (if you have one).

Hey everyone! thank you for the fast replies!! I am not currently using carbon. All I know is, whatever did this, it did it fast!! The female maroon is a total ***** especially with eggs involved and is almost just as big as the Coris. I don't doubt her as the cause, but man thats alot of damage caused. Not sure how she would have been able to pull that off.

I dont have any Reef Rally on hand, any other products that might prove helpful?

I agree that’s an injury. Doesn’t look infected. That’s almost definitely aggression from another fish. What other tankmates do you have?
