Or possibly just too much flow?
They are in a lower flow area, I did just upgrade my powerheads to about 4x more flow, but other zoas are fine in higher flow areas.

I believe they are "Pink Mantis" Zoas.

See how the rim of the polyp is white at the top, and some look to be starting to be "pinched off" at the head?

Only the back half of the colony opens, the front half usualy stays just barly open, to all the way closed as you can see int he pic, has been about 4 days now since this happened, which was incedentaly exactly when I switched powerheads.

IMO the polyps look clean and healthy, i'd be it has to do w/ the flow, in the first pic it seems like them are all leaning to the left, are they being hit w/ flow from the right?

Agreed. I have several of my zoos in high flow and it took them a few weeks to fully adjust and open all the way. It took them even longer to adjust to my T5's.

What are the parameters of your tank.......I know alot of time that it is thought that because there are other colonies doing OK that under certain parameters that all should be well......I have had what would be good parameters and have had issues with certain morphs while all the rest were fine. I would then tweek what ever was low or on the low end of good and they would come back......Alk is a big one with zoas....

Ca is a bit low but all does look fine......I think I would dip in some Furan2, the brown tissue looks like it might have an bactrial infection or might be a fungle infection. I would say that the brown is something and looks to have spread to other polyps.....

alright Ill go get some furan2 and give them a dip.
hope its not too late, I probably should have just dipped them when they first started closing up as a precaution.

lfs didnt have any furan2. my choices are Furanase, Maracyn, or Tetracycline. Will any of those work?

Ryan

How are they tonight?

Bad. I cut a coupel I thought were salvagable off, and dipped them in Tetracycline(for bacteria), and then a few hours later in Mayacin(4 fungus). WIll see what happens.

will post pics if they open up tommorow.

sorry for your lose i have had many die that way. i wanted to bring up maybe another thread would be better. red slime remover ? wouldnt that help in these type of matter? question i have had for a couple months now. i cant get rid of cyano from my tank. thought maybe my lights.......give me a min i'll get to the point. hehehe . my light are new and i still have the problem will be upgrading my ro next.

but due to the red slime i have had to dose my tank with some kind of red slime treament. i have had a couple frag look badly with what looked like a fungies infection of some type. brownish maybe little green like film covering my zoa's but next day after the dosing they where opening right up where they where closed for 3 maybe 4 days before i doesed. this seems too have happen a couple times and with the same results as i have been living with red slime for a many many months

i do have iodine and furan 2 unopen. i have used the iodine for checking rocks for unwanted guests and got the furan 2 to try out. have yet just got it.

maybe i am wrong in some way but also was wondering what was the main
Ingredient in red slime remover?

Duno, but I know its not that great to dose your tank with it.
If you have a cyano(red slime) problem, you need to check your nutrient levels, and correct them.
