image.jpg Just wanting to know if these products are reef safe and if this is the correct paste to attach an external pump to PVC?

I'm new to plumbing and really don't want to have to redo anything.

the PVC is fine but, the rectorseal needs to read safe for potable water on the back somewhere.

I know Rectorseal #5 state that...

T plus 2 has an NSF classification of 61...

If you manufacture, sell or distribute water treatment or distribution products in North America, your products are required to comply with NSF/ANSI 61: Drinking Water System Components – Health Effects by most governmental agencies that regulate drinking water supplies. Developed by a team of scientists, industry experts and key industry stakeholders, NSF/ANSI 61 sets health effects criteria for many water system components including:

  • Protective barrier materials (cements, paints, coatings)
  • Joining and sealing materials (gaskets, adhesives, lubricants)
  • Mechanical devices (water meters, valves, filters)
  • Pipes and related products (pipe, hose, fittings)
  • Plumbing devices (faucets, drinking fountains)
  • Process media (filter media, ion exchange resins)
  • Non-metallic potable water materials

I use this thread sealant and have since the 1980's with great success. It is designed specifically for PVC threads unlike pipe dopes and teflon tapes.
LA-CO: Product Detail - PLASTO-JOINT STIK® - Plastic Thread Sealant
It stays pliable forever and does not tear or roll out of the threads like teflon tape. My swimming pool plumbing up to 2" was all installed with this in 1983, outside in Phoenix AZ and its still pliable to this day!
Teflon tape was never designed to be used with PVC. Read this article by LASCO, one of the largest PVC fitting manufacturers in the world:

Since it does say potable water I'm good?
