No for me. You might get away with it.

I wouldn't risk it. Few more bucks you could get nice full spectrum light

if you looking to save money and get a nice light than invest in a chinese black box, you know what go to the forums here of people selling used stuff, i saw a beginner reef breeders for like 70 bucks man, thats one of the best low budget lights you can get, better than chinese and cheaper.

I agree with the opinions above. You will most likely outgrow this light very quickly and want to upgrade soon. This leads to spending more money in the long run. Used equipment can be a good way to save some $ just be cautious and use good judgement when buying used. Easier said than done sometimes. With something like a light fixture you might want to look for a used fixture locally so you can check it out in person before you buy it. They also tend to be on the large/fragile side so shipping can be pricey.

You are on the edge right there since even the maker says this " general marine aquarium applications such as soft coral stocked or fish only aquariums"

10 gallon half moon @Saltine maybe now you know the tank that I'm dealing with is there any cheap lights just for the corals that require minimal lighting thats all I'm looking to keep

I don't believe that the light is going to be enough unless you put several over your tank. If you on a small budget, look into the Black Boxes. Many people use them and get good results. One day you'll get the SPS itch;) and the extra light will let you keep them happy. JMO

Ya I bought one same as you, when I first started this hobby. It's still a good choice, but I wish I had read more or someone told me what to do, but I had not discovered these forums before that. That light is good but the sb reef lights are way better. And once you catch the bug, we'll you'll know what I mean soon. But yeah galaxy hydro is still pretty good, way better than what you originally had in mind.

Also start em out 30 white 50 blue like 9 inches above water, for a week than slowly go to 40 white 60 blue. Keep keen eye on which corals close up, move those down a bit. And so on. Once you hit 40 white 60 blue keep if like this for a month, don't go any higher as these lights are strong and that's usually good enough.
