Added an orange ricordea yesterday and after doing some aquascaping this is where he ended up.

I know mushrooms tend to get ticked after being added to new tanks and shrink up, but I want to be sure it’s in a good spot to succeed

I took my 7-8 rics and glued them to one rock. Looks pretty cool now. I say keep it there till you figure out what you want.

You can see them on the left. I probably should move that rock up so I can see them better.

Mine seem to prefer being on the rocks, so I'd place him there until you figure out a permanent spot for him.
I’ve been scared to remove it from the frag plug lol was hoping it might end up detaching and moving up to a rock on it’s own!

How exactly do I go about attaching them to rock? This is my first time so still doing my best to learn!

It probably won't wander off of the rock unless bad things are happening. You can cut the stem off of the frag plug with coral cutters and glue the remaining disk to the rocks with super glue gel. Congrats on a great coral. Orange Rics are really beautiful and hardy!

I should be more specific: cut the stem of the frag plug, not the coral itself!

They can take a lot of light, btw, but go slowly I've seen many bleached Rics.
Obviously these lights aren’t the greatest. I do have 2 viparspectra 165s coming in tomorrow. I’ve heard they’re pretty powerful so gonna ease Into them!

Just an FYI, I have 2 of those 165w viparspectras on the 90 in the picture I posted. 8” above the tank at I think 45% blue and 3% white and the ricordias are at the bottom of the tank. They also seemed fine on the frag rack at the top of the tank so I think they can handle a range ....

That’s good to know!! I planned on mounting mine about 12-15 inches over but running a similar ratio of blue to white!
This dude probably just needs to adjust better!
